The netflix phishing scam

The netflix scam

I got this sent in from someone to share and try let people know what's going on, especially since this type of email looks very convincing. A new type of phishing scam trying to trick people into thinking there account is closed.

How the scam works

Scammers send out emails in bulk pretending to be from netflix, explaining how your account is suspended and how you can activate it back up by clicking the link below and updating your details. But this is not the case they are hoping you click the link and put in your details so they can either steal money from your bank account or steal your information to sell on to other fake scamming companies.

how to avoid the scam

It's pretty simple how you can avoid this, you can't help receiving the emails and you may even think its real and click on the link but don't worry clicking the link alone won't give the scammers any of your information. But if you do receive this do not click the link and if you do click the link do not put in any of your personal details.

To spot a fake email always check for grammar mistakes and if it's grammarly incorrect most of the time its a copy and paste script so there's little things that wouldn't be quite right but if it looks legit like its been sent from the company and you can't quite tell get in touch with customer support on netflix and just double check its always better to be safe than sorry this is what a fake email looks like info@mailer.netflix.com this is how people get caught up because it looks like it came from a real netflix address just be aware.

what to do if you fall victim to this

If you end up clicking the link and entering your details make sure to contact your bank straight away and explain to them what happened they will be able to tell you if any money comes out or any suspicious activity and they will be able to sort it out from there.
